Michelle Bengzon is a Limited Permit-Marriage and Family Therapist practicing in New York. Michelle received her Bachelors of Science in Psychology with a Minor in Marketing from Fordham University, and her Master of Science in Marriage & Family Therapy from Northwestern University and was trained extensively at The Family Institute, Bette D. Harris Center. Michelle has treated individuals, adolescents, couples, and families via Telehealth throughout the pandemic. She has worked with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, communication issues, relationship and intimacy issues, intergenerational trauma, low self-esteem and struggling with self-identity.

Michelle uses an integrative and collaborative approach, and tailors her work to each client’s specific needs and goals within the context of their journey. She believes that the most important relationship in the therapeutic room is between the therapist and the client. In addition, Michelle’s collaborative nature helps cultivate a strong therapeutic relationship that launches her clients towards growth. Coming from the Philippines and moving to New York in 2013, Michelle understands the importance of culture and family. She has seen how it impacts her clients current and past behaviors and their way of thinking, which affects relationships. She hopes to help clients create healthier cycles in their systems.

Michelle is warm and curious, uses humor in sessions, and welcomes complexity and confusion to help clients ask questions. Michelle invites feedback from clients to help make their experience in therapy exciting and challenging. She believes that these are valuable for growth. Michelle values and strives for culturally-sensitive, responsive, and humble therapy. Michelle is fluent in both English and Tagalog (Filipino). She enjoys taking dance classes around New York City, watching Broadway plays, listening to music, exploring NYC’s big and small beauty, and loves talking about food.
